10 dance types which have characteristic figures are chosen: Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata, Jive, Flamenko(Sevilianas), Street Jazz, Modern Dance, Ballet, Samba and Oriental. (The dances perfomed with a partner such as tango, valtz, etc. are not included)

 

Aslı Kaynak who is a a licensed sportswoman and a professional dancer performed these dance types. While she was performing the figures, the trajectories that her body parts followed are recorded by the Kinect sensor. The provided data is processed with image processing and 3D modelling software such as NI Mate, Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max, Processing and Photoshop.

 

In order to visualize a 3-dimesional dance figure to a 2-dimentional graphic, the projections of the movements on X, Y and Z planes are merged into a unique image of that dance.
